HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Houston women's basketball team made its first appearance in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 coaches poll, coming in at No. 25 in the country.
The Lady Cougars received 70 points in the latest poll which was released Tuesday afternoon. After dropping back to back games to current top 10 teams Georgia and Purdue in December, Houston has won seven consecutive games, six of which have been on the road.
The top 25 ranking is the highest for a Lady Cougar basketball team since joining Conference USA in 1994 and their 12-2 start to the season is the best since the 1991-92 team opened the year 14-1.
Houston is the third C-USA team currently ranked in the coaches poll. TCU and DePaul are No. 17 and No.18 respectively.
The Lady Cougars take on Wichita State tonight at 7 p.m. and will take on TCU Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a nationally telivised top 25 showdown on ESPN 2.
