In another physical and defensive battle, the University of Houston women's soccer team was shut out for the third straight game as the visiting Saint Louis Billikens handed the Cougars a 1-0 loss on Friday (Sept. 26) night at Robertson Stadium.
With an assist from Jamie Perry, Saint Louis' Tara Gresco netted the match's only score when she slipped a straight shot past a diving Erin Ferguson, who recorded two saves on the night, at 31:59.
Houston's defense once again played stellar, and despite out-shooting the Billikens, 7-6, overall and 4-3 on-goal, the Cougars' struggling offense could not find the net. Junior Nikki Hawkins and sophomores Beth Outlaw and Meghan Moreo each had two shots for Houston.
With the loss, the Cougars season record now rests at 2-7-1, 0-3-0 in C-USA. They host East Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1:00p.m. at Robertson Stadium.
