Diary #4
This is my first entry in a month. We have been through some big ups and downs to get to this week. Since my last dugout view, We lost some big games in our tournament to Oregon, Kentucky and Texas Tech, but found a way to end on a win by defeating UTSA. Then we headed down to Baton Rouge to face LSU, So. Mississippi and Jackson State. We finished second in the tournament and found a way to beat then #8 LSU.
Feeling confident, getting strong pitching performances and playing solid defense we headed into our first conference series at Southern Mississippi. Having defeated them twice in Baton Rouge we knew they would be tough to see so soon. After some intense innings, we left Hattiesburg with three more wins. That increased our total to five wins in seven days over USM.
We headed back home over spring break to sweep Louisiana Tech and take three more conference games from Saint Louis. Now 6-0 in conference and on an eight game win streak we hosted our final round robin of the season against Boston and Missouri. We left the weekend with wins over Boston and losses to Missouri.
Back on track and back in school we ended our toughest game stretch of the season with a pair of wins over UTA and a loss to Texas. Since the team was in need of some rest, we enjoyed a three day break over the weekend and started back on Monday to prepare for our week's upcoming games. We host Alabama A&M in a double header on Thursday and face conference rival and #10 ranked DePaul in a three game home series. This is our first time having DePaul to Houston. We are looking for the home field advantage and a full stadium to help out in big ways.
