HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team will wrap up its four-game road stand and look to stop a three-game losing skid as it faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars (10-10, 2-6 C-USA) will tip off against the Islanders (12-11) at 7 p.m. at the Circle K Court in Corpus Christi.
After dropping its last three games to Conference USA teams, Houston will face a non-conference team in TAMU-CC and try to regroup in time for postseason play (C-USA Tournament - March 6-9). The Lady Cougars looked promising coming into league play with an 8-4 record including three wins over SEC teams.
The Lady Cougars lead the all-time series against TAMU-CC 1-0. Like Houston, who is 7-2 at Hofheinz Pavilion, the Islanders have had great success in front of its home crowd, losing only one game (9-1) at Circle K Court this season.
Houston's game will air live on 1180 KGOL-AM and on the Internet via www.UHcougars.com.
Houston is led by All-American Chandi Jones (5-10, G/F) who currently tops the league and is second in the nation in scoring (26.9 ppg). Jones, a two-time C-USA Player of the Week already this season and the 2002 C-USA Player of the Year, is also averaging 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 steals per contest.
