Cougars Fend Off Chicago State

HOUSTON (AP) - Andre Owens scored 22 points to lead Houston to a 71-65 overtime victory over Chicago State on Tuesday night.
Owens gave Houston (4-3) the lead on a 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining in the second half. Chicago State (1-11) forced overtime on a basket by Royce Parran with two seconds left to tie the game at 60-60.
Houston outscored Chicago State 11-5 in overtime to hand Chicago State its second straight overtime loss. Parran had forced overtime against Wagner on Monday night with a 3-pointer.
Owens hit 6 of 9 field goals, including 2 of 4 3-pointers. Marcus Oliver added 17 points for Houston.
Tony Weeden led Chicago State with 22 points. Craig Franklin added 15 and Rubeen Perry had 12.
