Truscott, Thomas and Goldwire Open Season In CBA

Former University of Houston basketball standouts Louis Truscott, Renaldo Thomas and Anthony Goldwire will begin the 2003-04 basketball season with the Gary (Ind.) Steelheads and the Yakima Sun Kings in the Continental Basketball Association.
Truscott was a 2002-03 First-Team, All-Conference USA performer after finishing sixth among national rebounding leaders with 11.3 rebounds per game and leading C-USA with 16 double-doubles. Truscott also led the Cougars in scoring with 15.3 points per game as a senior last year. He pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds against TCU and was a second-round pick by the Steelheads in the CBA Draft. He played with the Houston Rockets in the 2003 Southern California Pro Summer League in Long Beach.
A team captain for Houston's 1985-86 team, Thomas is in his second season as an assistant coach after helping lead the the Steelheads to their most successful season ever and their first over .500 finish ever in 2002-03 with a 25-23 record. Gary was just one and a half quarter points shy of making the CBA playoffs.
Goldwire returns to Yakima after spending last season with the San Antonio Spurs. He played with Yakima in 2001-02 and averaged 20 points and 7.5 assists for the Sun Kings. He was drafted by Yakima in the 1994 CBA Draft as the seventh overall pick and was named the league's 1994-95 Second-Team, All-Rookie team after averaging 11.9 points and five assists per game. He also played with the Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggetts and Washington Wizards in the NBA before joining the Spurs last season.
