Diary #1
A new season is only days away from opening. This is year three since our program began and our expectations are sky high. We have thirteen returners and five newcomers for the 2003 season. Our pitching is stronger and our offense is still explosive. This should be a fun year. We open up at SWT as defending champions. This is one of the toughest weekends on the schedule. We are looking to use it as a gauge for the rest of the season. We then move on to two home tournaments and a final weekend before Conference play begins at regional opponent, and nationally ranked, LSU. March will be a mixed bag for us with double headers, Conference games and one final home tournament. Once we hit April, all of our energy is toward winning Conference USA. A preseason pick of six has motivated us to change people's minds on our capabilities as a program. The highlight of the season will come May 8-10 when we host the Conference Championships. We feel we have a very exciting team this year that can be a constant threat to any opponent. I urge students, alumni and softball fans to just come once and see what you are missing.
