Houston Shut Down by UTEP

The University of Houston women's soccer team was shutout by the UTEP Miners by a final of 6-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Lobo Adidas Classic in Albuquerque, N.M.
UTEP senior Kelly Parker netted the Miners' first goal in the 17th minute of regulation on a pass from freshman Heather Clark, then added an assist on Amber Mack's goal in the 34th minute.
Marge Gomez knocked in a goal off a pass from Holly Cohen in the 36th minute before Cohen put UTEP on top, 4-0, in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Kristi Jang put the game on ice with goals in the 52nd and 69th minutes.
With the loss, Houston's season record now rests at 1-2-0. Houston returns home to Robertson Stadium to host North Texas on Friday, Sept. 13, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00p.m., followed by a Sunday afternoon contest against visiting UL-Lafayette on Sept. 15 at 1:00p.m.
