Cougar Softball Sweeps Lumberjacks

Nacogdoches, Texas - The Cougars swept the Lumberjacks of SFA Wednesday 12-2 and 6-2 in the season's third and fourth matchup's. The Cougars began hitting in the second inning scoring two runs against the Lumberjacks Devin Cobb. That was just the beginning of the Cougar rout of the Lumberjacks 12-1. The Cougars had 16 hits in 30 at bats to SFA's five hits.
The top hitters for the Cougars were Ray Ferreris who went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Kristen Glowacz went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored and Jenilee Skender went 2-for-3 who also had three RBI. The winning pitcher was Jenny Johnson who is now 13-9 overall.
In the second game the Cougars took a two run lead with Ray Ferreris' eleventh homerun of the year, setting a new Cougar individual season record. The Lumberjacks came back in the fourth scoring two runs and tying up the game 2-2.
The Cougars decided to make things interesting by waiting until the top of the seventh to score a run, but they managed to produce four more runs on seven hits. Top hitters for the Cougars in the second game were Ferreris who went 2-for-3 with a double, sacrifice hit and three RBI's in addition to her eleventh homerun. Kristen Glowacz went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored.
Jamie Falco was the winning pitcher for the day improving her to 14-8 overall.
The Cougars take on the Blazers of UAB in their last Conference USA road series. Saturday's game is a double header with Sunday's as a single and both day's games will begin at 1:00pm.
