HOUSTON, Texas - Midway through a record-setting season, University of Houston pitcher Brad Sullivan received another honor Wednesday when he was invited to the 2002 USA Baseball National Team Trials.
Sullivan was one of 19 collegiate players from across the country invited to participate in the trials to be held June 18-23 in Tucson, Ariz. The USA National Team will be selected from a pool of about 35-40 players, of which an additional 16-21 has yet to be determined.
The official team roster will be announced on June 24.
This season, Sullivan has emerged as one of the nation's premier collegiate pitchers. The Nederland, Texas, native has compiled a perfect 7-0 record with 103 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA in 72.1 innings of work.
He has twice been honored as Conference USA Pitcher of the Week and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week this season and set a school-record earlier this month with 16 strikeouts in only seven innings against league rival Memphis.
