Houston, Texas - Head softball Coach Kyla Holas announced today the signing of pitcher Crystal Briscoe from Buffalo, Texas, for the 2002-03 season.
Crystal played for Buffalo High School and earned many awards during her tenure. Her freshman year in 1998-99 she was voted District Newcomer of the Year and All-Herald Press Newcomer of the Year. For her sophomore and junior years, she made the All-District team and was the District MVP for the 2000-01 season. In that same year she was named first-team All-State Pitcher for Buffalo.
Briscoe played for the Texas Comets summer team and earned a fourth-place finish in the AFA National Tournament last spring. She is currently finishing up her senior season at Buffalo and will join the Cougars in the fall.
"Crystal will be a solid addition to our pitching staff," stated Coach Holas. "She has the mental strength to do big things at D1 and we will look for her to make an immediate impact on the mound next season."
