Houston Softball Blasts SFA in Five

Houston, Texas - The Cougars lost their first game of the year on Saturday night to place the as the third seed for Sunday's single elimination bracket. The first game for the Cougar's began at 9:00am versus Stephen F. Austin.
Riane Netardus began the scoring getting on base with a single in the first and driven in by Ray Ferreris' single. In the first inning the Cougar's led 1-0.
The Lumberjacks decided to put some runs on the board, pitcher Devin Cobb, bounced the ball off of the top of the fence for a solo homer.
In the second inning two freshmen, Michelle Keith and Kim Nesloney, both hit singles to reach a base and were scored by Leslie Seay (2RBI). The score after two innings is 3-1.
Houston took a strong hold on the lead in the fifth. Kristen Glowacz reached base on a fielders choice bunt, Jenilee Skender began the series getting on base with a single to left, Jeanie Davis singled and Michelle Keith cleared the bases with her first home run and the years first grand slam to center field (4RBI). Leslie Seay got her third single of the game hit to the second baseman. Netardus singled and Kim Cote received the 3 RBIs with her home run to left-center. Ferreris finished the inning's hits with a single. Skender ended the game with her third hit with a solo home run to centerfield, her first of the year.
The winning pitcher for the Cougar's was Jamie Falco. Her record on the year 5-0. Houston moves to 12-1.
