After averaging 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals per game while leading the University of Houston Lady Cougars to two straight conference wins over Tulane (Feb. 8) and Southern Miss (Feb. 10) over the weekend, sophomore guard and All-American candidate Chandi Jones has been named Conference USA Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 10.
Jones shot 56 percent from the field (15-of-27), including a 13-of-15 effort from the charity stripe (87.7 percent). In the Lady Cougars' 85-74 win over Tulane, she tallied 26 points, seven assists, one block and three steals, and in Houston's win over Southern Miss, she bucketed a game-leading 21 points while pulling down nine boards and adding three steals.
Jones has now recorded double-figures in 43-consecutive games--each game of her collegiate career at Houston.
The award is the third such honor for Jones this season (Jan. 22 and Dec. 3, 2001), and the fourth overall for her career.
