What were some of the things you were impressed with the way you ran the offense?
First of all we were impressed in the way we ran the ball especially with a kind of make shift offense line. Roy Swain had his first start at guard and Rex (Hadnot) played center the first time of his career. I think we had one rough snap and we luckily fell on it but that was it. To be able to run for 180 yards with a new rebuild offensive line was the biggest key. Once we established that we could run the pass started to open up like it has in the past couple of weeks. I was able to hit my receivers and they were able to make some big catches. The catches that Brandon Middleton made were amazing; it is nice to have that confidence in your receivers. It was a good day for the offense.
Jon Clark has been out for a month, but do you think he needs to be a regular in the passing game attack?
He is definitely someone we would like to get in there as much as we can. He is such a good player he plays the backside tightend and the flex tightend that is where we have him right now. We used him a lot early and them he got hurts and we had to work to offense without him try to go away from the sets that we had before with him. Probably this week or next week we will start to go back to him because we like to have him on the field as much as possible.
You made a lot of checks at the line of scrimmage. Can you briefly tell me what you saw that made you want to change the play?
They scouted us well because the play that we ran against Army, Memphis was prepared for them. When we ran those sets they shifted down to a few defenses to try to stop our heaver side where our motion was going. We ran a couple of our runs to their weak side, they over played it a little bit and we just it the holes. The checks that we had to make we kind of knew we were going to have to make them because e of the way we ran the ball against Army.
After winning two straight conference games with a balance offense attack how does the team feel about going into a battle about ECU?
We feel good we are running the ball and throwing the ball, mostly our defense is playing well again and special teams are doing well. We are playing complete football all three dimensions are working well for us. This gives us complete confidence to come back home to play East Carolina especially when it is homecoming. We are going to be pumped up for this game.
With Chris Robertson going down again do you think the team's spirits will be down or will you try to rally all the players to win this one for C-Rob and for a chance to play for a bowl game?
I don't think the players will be down, it is tough when you loose a guy like C-Rob who made some tough runs Saturday, he ran over some defensive linemen and some defensive tackles. We are going to miss him a lot but we have Anthony Evans who can help out Joffrey (Reynolds) so we still fell confident. We are going to do our best we got this last one for Al (James) so maybe we can do this one for C-Rob and get going for a bowl game.
