University of Houston running back Chris Robertson has won the Touchdown Club of Houston's inaugural Courage Award, and will be given the plaque at the Fourth Annual High School Football Scholar-Athlete Luncheon at noon, Wed., Nov. 6, at the JW Marriott, 5150 Westheimer.
Robertson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on April 13, and has battled back to play this year. Robertson has rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns in just three games. He has added an additional 45 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions. The 2002 season is his last year of eligibility, as he played last year and is a transfer from the University of Texas where he lettered for two years.
The football scholar-athlete luncheon will feature 25 of the top scholar-athletes at Greater Houston high schools who are senior starters. Speaker will be Bernie Kish of South Bend, Ind., the executive director of the College Football Hall of Fame.
