This Sunday afternoon at Hofheinz Pavilion promises to be an exciting one as the Lady Cougars open conference play in hosting the TCU Horned Frogs, the newest member of Conference USA, at 2:00 p.m.
In their first match since the Lady Cougars dropped the Horned Frogs, 80-72, at Hofheinz Pavilion on Feb. 14, 1996, Houston looks to improve upon its dominating 23-4 lifetime mark--including a perfect 14-0 at Guy V. Lewis Court--against TCU dating back to the 1982 season.
Following its most recent win over Santa Clara on Jan. 3, TCU improved to 10-3 overall on the season and is currently in fourth place of C-USA. They have received votes in the latest national polls by ESPN/USA Today (17 votes) and the Associated Press (1 vote).
Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars currently rest in fifth place of Conference USA with a 9-3 record, and one more win would put them in double figures in overall wins for the second consecutive season. Houston has not repeated double-digits in victories since posting a 14-14 record in 1994-95 and a 12-16 record during the 1995-96 campaign.
In addition, the Lady Cougars look to extend the winning magic on their home court. They have won each of their four home contests so far this (6-0 including both exhibition wins) and have not lost in their last 10 home games overall. Their last loss at Hofheinz Pavilion came against C-USA rival Tulane (59-75) on Feb. 11 of last season.
Sunday afternoon's contest against the Horned Frogs will be broadcast live on KGBC 1540 AM as well as over the internet at www.tsrnsports.com.
