HOUSTON, Texas - If early support is any indication, the University of Houston baseball team should enjoy a successful season in 2002.
The Cougars' 2002 Preseason Banquet, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5, has sold out.
Members of the 2002 Cougar Baseball team will be honored at the celebration to be held in the Bluebonnet Ballroom at the Crowne-Plaza-Downtown Cullen Center.
In addition, former Cougar great and current St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Woody Williams will receive the inaugural Houston Cougar Professional Player of the Year Award.
The Cougars, who participated in their third straight NCAA Regional in 2001 and are ranked 27th nationally in Baseball America's preseason top 100 poll, start their season on Feb. 8 with a 4 p.m. meeting against Baylor at the Astros College Classic at Enron Field.
