After averaging 21.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and leading the University of Houston Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record last week, including two big conference wins against Louisville (Jan. 18) and Cincinnati (Jan. 20), sophomore guard Chandi Jones has earned Conference USA Co-Player of the Week honors for the week of January 21.
Jones shares C-USA's weekly honor with Southern Miss' Tierra Lassiter, who led the Golden Eagles to two conference wins while averaging 18 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals off the bench.
In addition to registering 20-plus points in each of Houston's three games--including a season-high 30 against the Cincinnati Bearcats--Jones shot 62.8 percent (27-of-43) from the field. She tallied a combined 50 points in both of Houston's C-USA wins over the weekend.
The award is the third such honor for Jones, and second time this season. She was coined C-USA Co-Player of the Week for December 3, 2001, and December 4, 2000.
