The University of Houston volleyball team (2-2) will be in action at the Kansas State Wildcat Classic in Manhattan this Friday and Saturday, September 7-8. The Cougars join Washington State, Arkansas and host Kansas State in the four-team round-robin field.
Houston opens weekend action with Washington State at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. It will be only the second-ever meeting between the "Cougars and Cougars." Washington State (3-1) is ranked 26th in the nation in this week's volleyball polls.
UH then meets No. 22 ranked Kansas State on Saturday at 12 noon. Last week the Wildcats battled No. 5 Hawaii and No. 7 UCLA before sweeping Michigan three games to none.
The final UH match of the weekend will be against SEC power Arkansas at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arkansas is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Murray State last week. The Cougars have won two matches in a row after defeating Rice and Samford at the Crown Plaza Rice Invitational. Houston junior middle hitter Jenny Tanneberger was named to the All-Tournament team.
Houston will be at Florida's tournament next week before playing its home-opener against Texas A&M on Tuesday, September 18, in Hofheinz Pavilion.
