Lady Cougar Soccer Grabs Conference Win Over Billikens

Houston ,Texas - The Houston Lady Cougar soccer team grabbed his first conference win of the year over the Saint Louis Billikens in a 2-0 rally in the second half. The Cougars began the game with the fifth scoreless first half of the season. The Cougars were determined to win tonight after last weeks performance. They pushed the ball with force towards the Billiken's net. At the 32:47 minute mark, Houston's Kara Bullinger took a corner kick for the Cougars, lofting the ball to the foot of Senior Carrie Evans. Evans popped the ball in to the back of the net for her first goal of the season and sealing Bullinger's assist.
The Cougars held off the aggressive Saint Louis team to within one minute of the end of the game. The ball was cleared from Houston's goal to the breaking Sherika Hardaway. She went one-on-one with Billiken's goalie Meghann Burke who blocked her first shot and on the rebound Hardaway booted the ball deep into the net. This goal is Hardaway's first career goal. The Cougar shutout goes to Robin Cate her second of the year.
The Cougars, now 2-4-1, 1-2 in Conference USA, play will take on the Golden Eagles of Marquette this coming Sunday September 30 at 7:00pm.
