Jones and Hensley Sign With Cougars

Houston, Texas - University of Houston head men's basketball coach Ray McCallum announced that Cedric Hensley and Dwight Jones, Jr. have signed to play with the Cougars in the 2002-03 season.
ESPN.com lists Hensley, a 6-4 guard from Heritage Christian High School, as one of the nation's top 100 recruits after averaging 25 points per game as a junior. He also gained national notoriety as a junior when he scored 101 points in a game.
"Cedric Hensley is a very explosive and talented athlete," McCallum said. "He demonstrated his explosiveness last year by scoring 100 points in a game. He is one of the best players in the state."
Hensley is listed by as one of the top 10 recruits in the state of Texas by TexasHoops.com and was an all-District 23-4A selection as a sophomore at Texas City High School.
Jones, the son of former Cougar star and 10-year NBA veteran Dwight Jones, Sr., comes to Houston after earning all-District 15-5A honors as a junior at Klein High School.
"Dwight Jones is a talented athlete who can play both guard positions," McCallum said. "He can score and is a good defender. He also makes the players around him better."
Jones averaged 15.0 points and four steals as a junior and is one of three returning starters for the Bearkats this season. TexasHoops.com also ranks him as one of the top 30 players in the state of Texas.
