TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Houston volleyball team puts its season-best six-match winning streak on the line Sunday afternoon when it faces South Florida at 1 p.m. (CST) in Tampa, Fla.
The Cougars enter the match on a six-match winning streak, both overall and in Conference USA action, and jumped into second place in the league standings after Saint Louis upset DePaul on Friday.
UH (11-8, 8-2 C-USA) extended its winning streak Friday with an easy 3-0 win at UAB. In that match, junior outside hitter Jane Anne Karasek posted the seventh double-double of her collegiate career with a team-best 13 kills and 11 digs.
Karasek was one of four players to post double digits in digs as Jennifer Wittenburg led all players with 14 digs and Gabi Carbone and Amanda Baggett chipped in with 11 digs apiece. In addition, junior setter Donna Sellen tallied a career-best with six kills in 11 chances while dishing out 34 assists.
Houston owns an 8-4 all-time record against the Bulls but will be looking to snap a two-match losing streak. A year ago, the Cougars collected a 3-0 win at home but dropped the next two decisions, including a 3-2 loss in the second round of the Conference USA Tournament.
The Bulls (13-7, 7-3 C-USA) are tied for fourth in the C-USA standings after knocking off TCU 3-0 on Friday. USF enters Sunday's match as winners of four of its last five matches.
