Houston Snaps Losing Streak with Win Over Louisville

HOUSTON, Texas (Oct. 1) - The University of Houston women's soccer team beat the Louisville Cardinals by a score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. The victory improves the Cougars' conference record to 2-4 and their overall record to 5-7. The Cardinals drop to 0-6 in conference and 1-11 on the season.
Houston scored two unanswered goals on nine shots to dominate the first half. Freshmen Nicole Aubuchon scored her first of two goals in the game at the 1:13 mark on an assist from junior Kara Bullinger. Thirty minutes later, junior Kristen Hogan netted her sixth goal of the season making the score 2-0 heading into half-time. In the second half, Aubuchon continued her scoring barrage connecting at the 69:10 mark to record her eleventh goal on the season. With that goal, Aubuchon now sits atop the UH record books having scored the most goals in a single season. Houston continued to dominate the Cardinals as junior Melissa Raymer kicked in goal number four for the Cougars on a assist from Kara Bullinger at 71:56.
The Cougars will take a break from Conference USA action as they travel to San Marcos for an October 3, matchup with the Southwest Texas Bobcats. The Bobcats enter the game 9-3 overall after beating Louisiana Monroe 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars will return to Houston to host Saint Louis Sunday, October 8, at 1 p.m. The match will be played on John O' Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
