- Email:
Tyler Muse joined the University of Houston Department of Athletics as Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement in August 2019.
Muse oversees the publicity efforts for the Houston Men’s Basketball and Volleyball programs and assists with all 17 sport programs.
Prior to joining Houston, Muse spent a year as the assistant director of marketing and promotions at LSU. There, he served as the primary marketing contact for Gymnastics, Volleyball, and Track & Field and secondary for Baseball.
Under Muse’s direction, the LSU Gymnastics program enjoyed attendance accomplishments and records throughout the 2017-2018 season. The LSU Gymnastics program finished with an average attendance of 12,009 per meet, the highest average in program history.
This resulted in the Gymnastics program finishing first in overall average attendance in the SEC for the first time, unseating Alabama. The 20 percent increase in average attendance from the previous season was the highest mark that year throughout NCAA gymnastics.
Attendance for five of the six home meets finished in the top ten all time, including the largest meet attendance in program history at 13,729. The overall average attendance finished third in women’s college athletics, behind only Utah Gymnastics and UConn Women’s Basketball.
Outside of his assigned sports, Muse oversaw Mike the Tigers’ social media accounts, managed the LSU Batgirl program and directed the Bengal Brigade.
Prior to LSU, Muse served as the marketing assistant at Missouri, where he was the primary contact for Women’s Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field and Women’s Tennis. He was also the secondary contact for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Gymnastics and Volleyball. His marketing campaign for Mizzou Tennis led to a 20 percent increase in attendance per match, which resulted in the highest recorded average in program history.
While at Missouri, Muse rebranded the entire Truman Kids Club program by creating a new logo, assisting in adding a new sponsor, designing a new t-shirt, revamping the incentives implementing a targeted social media campaign to increase membership. Muse also developed the Mizzou Spirit Program, designed to increase brand awareness by streamlining the collateral distribution process to businesses in Kansas City, St. Louis and the communities surrounding the Columbia campus.
Muse is a native of Roswell, Georgia and earned a master of science in sports management and policy (2015) and a bachelor of science in sports management (2014) from the University of Georgia. As a undergraduate, Muse volunteered and worked in both the Marketing and Promotions departments of the Georgia Athletic Association.
Prior to attending Georgia, Muse played baseball for Western Kentucky, Connors State and, briefly, for Rutgers.
He and his wife, Chelsea, have two daughters, Kennedy and Morgan.
