Dan Hamilton joined the University of Houston Athletics Communications Department as an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications in September 2022 and moved into his current role as Director in October 2023. He serves as the primary contact for the volleyball and baseball programs while also assisting Associate AD for Communications Fletcher Like with the football program.
In his time in Space City, he has spent time working with his current sport assignments as well as the softball and swimming & diving teams. He also acts as the department's College Sport Communicators (CSC) liaison, ensuring the communications office is up-to-date with the organizations updates and deadlines for various awards. Hamilton was recognized by CSC in the Summer of 2024 for his softball game notes, which placed 15th in the nation among NCAA Division I schools, and started participating in their mentorship program for the 2025-26 athletics year.
In addition to media placements, Hamilton has grown the Volleyball team's Instagram page following by nearly 100 percent and the Facebook page following by over 600 percent since taking over the accounts. After libero Kate Georgiades jumped over a table to win a rally in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, he helped the team receive media placements on SportsCenter and NBCLX.
In addition to his day-to-day work, Hamilton volunteered with the NCAA's Media Coordination and Statistics group for the 2023 and 2024 Women's Volleyball Final Four, where he worked with the NCAA's Cassie Langdon to ensure a successful championship weekend for traveling media.
Prior to Houston, Hamilton was employed for three years at the University of South Florida, where he spent time as the primary contact for softball, women’s soccer, men and women’s tennis, sailing and cross country/track and field. He was also heavily involved in the department’s social strategy in his last two years of employment and worked across all of USF’s social media accounts for a year, ensuring the sponsored elements were posted and pulling analytics for each account. He also managed the communications internship program.
While serving as the softball contact for South Florida, Hamilton was recognized by Extra Inning Softball for his use and presentation of graphics made by various members of the department. Along with graphic designer Allasyn Lieneck, the pair captured a historic season by Georgina Corrick, who threw two perfect games en route to breaking 40 different USF or AAC records and earning NCAA Softball’s first ever pitching triple crown.
Overall, Hamilton grew the women’s soccer and softball Instagram accounts by over 100 percent.
During his tenure with the Bulls as their primary contact for women’s soccer and softball, Hamilton worked with five NCAA tournament teams and covered the programs as they captured four conference championships.
Hamilton graduated from Syracuse University in 2019 with a bachelors degree in Sport Management. During his time at ‘Cuse, Hamilton spent a year as an intern in the Syracuse University Athletic Communication office. He worked with nearly all of the university’s sport offerings and assisted the department as they hosted the 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball first and second rounds.
A native of Tampa, Fla., Hamilton currently lives in Midtown.
