Brett O'Connor was named Houston Soccer's assistant coach on Apr. 14, 2022. The 2022 season will be his first at Houston.
O'Connor comes to Houston after spending nearly five years with the Colorado Rapids (2017-22) in various roles such as the WPSL goalkeeper coach, ENCL head coach and the director of coaching U11-U14 girls in addition to serving as the men's goalkeeping coach at University of Denver (Oct. 2020-July 2021).
In 2016, O'Connor became the men and women's goalkeeping coach and assistant coach at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. During his time at Regis, O'Connor was also the goalkeeping coach for the U.S. Youth National Team (Aug. 2017-Aug. 2018) and a member of the U.S. Soccer training staff (2015-2017).
He was the director of coaching for the U13 and U14 Boys and Girls and the director of coaching for U11-U18 Boys at Colorado United Soccer Club.
In 2009, O'Connor moved to Colorado and assisted with both the men's and women's programs at Colorado Christian University and served as goalkeeping coach.
In addition, he trained and evaluated goalkeepers for Colorado ODP.
In 2008, Brett became an assistant coach for the men's program at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. In his first year, the program was regionally ranked for three consecutive weeks.
Originally from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., O'Connor graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a bachelor's degree in mass communications in 2003.
O'Connor has his USSF "B" License, NSCAA Premier Diploma and NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma.
