Evan Escalante

The 2021 season is the second as Houston Baseball student manager for Evan Escalante. In his role, Escalante operates video systems and provides student-athletes and coaches with post-scrimmage and post-game video through HUDL. He also assists the staff with tracking, analyzing and visualizing Rapsodo and TrackMan data.
The University of Houston senior has worked with the Houston Astros in a guest services role since 2015. During the 2019 season, Escalante supervised the Insperity Club, including during the World Series.
He previously interned with the Collegiate Baseball Scouting Network (later rebranded as Evolution Matrix). As a Houston area scout, he recorded video, hand logged data and entered advanced metrics to send to college and Major League clients.
The Houston native graduated from Carnegie Vanguard High School in 2017. There, he was a member of the varsity baseball program, earning playing time at third base, catcher and left field. Escalante was recognized as a 2016 20-6A All-District Honorable Mention and was 2017 18-6A Second-Team All-District.
He is the son of Thomas and Jennifer and has one sibling, Miles. Escalante is majoring in economics and minoring in Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing the drums and playing golf.
After graduation, he’d like to stay in baseball and continue learning how to scout and develop players with the help of analytics.
