Named 2002 Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational MVP? Averaged .526 hitting, 18.7 kills and four blocks per game in the tournament? Led the Cougar offense against TCU with 18 kills and five blocks, including a .516 hitting percentage? Had an all-around solid performance against the Ragin' Cajuns, posting 15 kills and no errors for a .536 hitting percentage, five blocks and 12 defensive digs? Racked up 23 kills in victory against cross-town rival Rice.
This Season
Set a personal best number of kills against Louisiana Tech and broke it the next day against Southeastern Louisiana when she put down 25. Also set a personal best record of 10 blocks against the Lions. Is averaging 19.5 kills per game and hitting .293 percent this season. Was named to the 2002 Hilton Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team.
Team Information
The Cougars are off to their best start since 1988. UH allowed only 22 kills against Centenary in its season opener. Senior outside hitter Jane Anne Karasek, who had 59 kills and 39 digs in the tournament, was the other Cougar named to the All-Tournament team this weekend. Syracuse transfer Laura Koster made her debut against Centenary, adding 14 kills. Senior setter Donna Sellen had 192 assists and newcomer Jaci Gonzalez led the defense with 67 digs in the tournament.
