- Part of the future at quarterback for the Cougars after enjoying a very productive first year in the UH system.
- Strong, athletic quarterback with a winning instinct and nice touch on his passes. He is also very mobile and a dangerous runner in the open field.
- Was four-of-eight for 38 yards and rushed twice for three yards in the annual Spring Game.
- Won the President's Award for Academic Excellence at the 2002 Football Banquet.
- Blade is a piece of Bassler family tradition at UH. Father Miller played football for Houston from 1970 thru 1974, his brother Brooks was the C-USA high jump champion in 1998 and earned points to help win 4 CUSA Team Championships, while his sister Briana won the C-USA Championship in the heptathlon in 2003 and also earned points in various events to help earn five C-USA Team Championships.
