Four Meet Records Set at Kirk Baptiste Invitational on Thursday

Cougars open outdoor season with 12 victories and four meet records
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program set four meet records and collected 12 victories at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational inside Carl Lewis International Complex on Thursday afternoon.Â
Â
In addition to the 12 victories, the Cougars earned eight second-place finishes and nine third-place finishes.Â

FIELD EVENTS
Two meet records were set in the men's and women's shot put. Junior Cordell Nwokeji recorded a personal best mark of 19.48m on his first attempt to win the event and set a meet record. This mark moves him up to second on Houston's all-time performance list.Â

In the women's shot put, sophomore Cleo Agyepong won the event with a meet record and personal best mark of 16.37m. She is now third on Houston's all-time performance list. Sophomore Sydney Freeman placed third with a mark of 14.62m.

Junior Reagan Reedy made her Cougar debut with a victory in the women's javelin and is now third in school history with a mark of 44.56m.

Freshman Jaiya Daniels earned first place in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.70m. Senior Ali Mack placed second with a mark of 5.65m.

Freshman Shieana Hall earned first place and is now fifth in school history in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.88m. Sophomore Stephanie Ume-Ezeoke placed third with a mark of 11.54m.

Senior Turey Stoudemire won the men's high jump in 2.05m.

Sophomore Colton Harrison won the men's pole vault in 4.75m while sophomore Owen Levesque finished third with a mark of 4.60m.

Redshirt sophomore Ty Lott captured the win in the men's hammer throw in 60.19m. Graduate Canaan Wharry placed third with a throw of 56.27m and moved to seventh all-time in school history.

Wharry also picked up a second-place finish in the men's discus with a mark of 54.68m.Â

Junior Nicole Prall set a personal best and placed second in the women's pole vault with a mark of 4.02m. Senior Aubrey Tupper also recorded a personal best and finished third with a mark of 4.02m. They are tied for fifth on Houston's all-time performance list.Â

Senior Zaeda Houff finished second in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 53.51m.

Freshman Bradley Lowman earned second in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.90m and freshman Simeon Cannon placed third at 6.72m.

RUNNING EVENTS
Houston earned three victories in the running events and set two meet records. Freshman Zyon Alston earned the first win on the women's side in the 100-meter with a time of 11.55.Â

Freshman Kamree Wolridge won the women's 400-meter with a meet record time of 54.12 while sophomore Carlysia Cresser followed in second with a time of 54.38.

Two Cougars claimed first and second place in the men's 400-meter. Freshman Dominic Harper came in first place with a meet record time of 46.93. Freshman Inigo Valencia crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 50.98.

Senior Matilde Ochoa recorded a personal best time of 23.75 in the women's 200-meter for second place.Â

Freshman Sean Aigboboh placed third overall in the men's 200-meter with a time of 20.74.Â

Sophomore Noah Hanson placed third overall in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.37.Â
Â
Freshman Kyra Hayden finished third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:02.89.

The relay squads will make their season debut at the TSU Relays on Saturday at Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas.
