Panagiotou Breaks School Record at Robert Platt Invitational

Evina Panagiotou becomes women’s pole vault indoor school record holder with a mark of 4.21m
HOUSTON – University of Houston Track & Field sophomore Evina Panagiotou set a school record in the indoor women's pole vault on the first day of the Robert Platt Invitational at the LLH Healthcare Indoor Track inside Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Panagiotou claimed the victory with a program-record clearance of 4.21m to take down Rhian Clarke's previous mark of 4.20m set in 2001. The sophomore also holds the outdoor women's pole vault school record.
The throws squad had a dominant day in the weight throw. Sophomore Esther Osisike placed second in the women's weight throw with a personal best mark of 19.94m to move up to fourth on the all-time program list. Senior Zaeda Houff also earned a personal best mark of 19.62m for the fifth-best mark in program history.
Redshirt sophomore Ty Lott moved up to second on Houston's all-time program list with a mark of 20.43m for third place. Graduate Canaan Wharry recorded a personal best mark of 18.95m to move up to fifth in program history.
Freshman Jada Stanford finished third in the women's 400 meters with a time of 56.34.
10 Cougars qualified for semifinals in four events. Senior Kaycee McCoy, Miracle Thompson and Madison Dominguez advanced to Saturday's semifinals in the women's 60-meter hurdles while senior Anthony Trucks and sophomore Noah Hanson qualified in the men's 60-meter hurdles.
Freshman Bradley Lowman, junior Michael Onilogbo and freshman Micah Washington qualified for the men's 60-meter semifinals while freshman Zyon Alston, sophomore Matilde Ochoa, freshman Skye Fields, junior Ruth Agadama and freshman qualified in the women's event.
In the multis events, senior Ali Mack placed second in the pentathlon with 3,587 points. Mack placed third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.71), fifth in the high jump (1.56m), fifth in the shot put (10.20m), third in the long jump (5.48m) and fourth in the 800m (2:30.26).
In the heptathlon, junior Kevin Brooks leads after four events with 3,134 points.
