Lefty Named Stopper of the Year Finalist

Jean named to closer award finalist list after posting top 20 marks in major stat categories
DALLAS – Houston Baseball left-handed pitcher Antoine Jean continued to add to his postseason accolades list after being named a Stopper of the Year Finalist by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Wednesday.
The Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year was named a National Pitcher of the Year Semifinalist by College Baseball Foundation after leading the Big 12 in ERA, hits allowed per nine, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts per nine, and WHIP while finishing second in total strikeouts and sixth in saves.
Among those conference ranks, Jean was second nationally in strikeouts per nine (14.78) and hits allowed per nine (5.37), eighth in WHIP (0.90) 17th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.50) 18th in ERA (2.55) and 19th in total strikeouts (110).
Jean is one of two pitchers among the 13 finalists who were named a conference pitcher of the year, joined by UC Irvine's Ricky Ojeda from the Big West Conference.
The Stopper of the Year recipient will be announced via a news conference on Friday, June 13, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
