Lefty earns All-Region honors, boosts postseason accolades list
HOUSTON – After being named a Stopper of the Year Finalist, Houston Baseball's Antoine Jean was named an ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region First-Team selection on Tuesday following a dominant season as a relief pitcher.
Jean is the first Cougar pitcher to earn All-Region honors since Trey Cumbie in 2018 and the 12th Houston pitcher to earn All-Region honors since 2002. With the selection, Houston has had All-Region honorees in back-to-back years for the first time since a seven-year run of All-Region picks (2013-19).
The Stopper of the Year Finalist and Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year led the Big 12 in ERA, hits allowed per nine, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts per nine, and WHIP while finishing second in total strikeouts and sixth in saves.
Among those conference ranks, Jean was second nationally in strikeouts per nine (14.78) and hits allowed per nine (5.37), eighth in WHIP (0.90) 17th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.50) 18th in ERA (2.55) and 19th in total strikeouts (110).
