Play Suspended in Seventh in Series Opener

Scinta works career-high 4.1 innings in first start since 2023
HOUSTON – In the bottom of the seventh with a pair of Cougars on, Houston Baseball's series opener against Utah was suspended due to lightning in the area. Utah leads the game 4-2 which will resume on Saturday at 4 p.m. from Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park.
Saturday's originally scheduled 6:30 p.m. game will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
Houston scored the game's first two runs on an RBI ground out from center fielder Tre Broussard in the first inning and an RBI triple from first baseman Cade Climie in the second.
Shortstop Tyler Cox had put together a three-hit game and had reached in all four plate appearances. Cox currently stands at second base entering the resumed game on Saturday.
In his first start since 2023, left-handed pitcher Chris Scinta worked a career-high 4.1 innings and took a no hitter into the fifth inning. Scinta struck out a pair in his first start in over two years.

Houston and Utah will resume the series opener on Saturday at 4 p.m. with the second game beginning 45 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1. The rest of the weekend's games against Utah will stream on ESPN+.
