
Dove Breaks School Record, Tom Tellez Invitational Rained Out

Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational meet halted due to rain
HOUSTON – University of Houston Track & Field graduate KeAyla Dove set a school record in the women's shot put as the Cougars won five events before inclement weather forced an early conclusion to Saturday's action at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational.
Dove won the women's shot put with her school record throw of 18.10m to record her first outdoor victory this season. The graduate also owns the indoor school record of 19.46m set on Feb. 14 at the Howie Ryan Invitational.
Sophomore Cordell Nwokeji won the men's shot put with his mark of 17.76m while sophomore Kaden Edwards placed second at 17.60m.
Redshirt freshman Ty Lott placed second in the men's hammer throw at 60.76 to move up to fourth on Houston's all-time list. On the women's side, junior Zaeda Houff placed third with a personal best to move up to fourth on the women's all-time list.
Redshirt sophomore Tairah Johnson recorded a mark of 5.92m in the women's long jump to place second.
The Cougars won three running events before the meet was halted. Freshman Darius Rodgers, sophomore Cayden Broadnax along with seniors Brice Chabot and John Adesola won the men's 4x100-meter at 40.06.
Freshman Remay Abraha won the men's 1500m with a time of 3:53.08 and sophomore Grant Sims placed third at 3:55.12.
The hurdles crew had a strong showing as the men swept the 110-meter hurdles with junior Anthony Trucks winning the event at 13.95, sophomore Jairius Burton grabbed second with a time of 13.97 and sophomore Logan Lyght secured the sweep with a third place finish at 14.09.
Junior Kaycee McCoy placed second in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 13.39 to move into tenth place on the all-time list.
Adesola concluded his day with a second place finish in the men's 100-meter with a time of 10.66
