Houston wins third-straight Big 12 road series opener, Jean Ks eight in relief
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Houston Baseball team trailed 3-0 before scoring seven runs off the bats of junior Coby DeJesus and sophomore Tre Broussard as the Cougars won their third straight Big 12 Conference series opener 7-4 at Oklahoma State on Friday.
Broussard, who drove in four runs on a pair of hits, and DeJesus, who drove in three on two hits, packed the punch in the middle of the order. Broussard's four RBI tied his career high while DeJesus' three-RBI day set a career-best for the infielder.
Houston (21-17, 6-10 Big 12) feasted early in at-bats, scoring all seven runs on swings at the first or second pitch of the at-bat. DeJesus's two-RBI single in the fifth and Broussard's bases clearing double in the sixth both came on 0-1 pitches. The pair drove in the next two runs on back-to-back first pitch swings in the eighth.
Oklahoma State (16-19, 5-9 Big 12) scored first, plating three in the fourth inning on a one-out single and a two-run home run.
The Cowboys tagged senior lefty Antoine Jean (4-1) for his first extra-base hit in Big 12 play, a solo home run in the fifth inning. The Montreal, Canada, native dug in after the home run to strike out eight total Oklahoma State hitters. The lefty has struck out 80 in 44.1 innings pitched with 5+ strikeouts in six of his last eight outings.

Houston looks to win its fifth road series this season against Oklahoma State on Saturday at 6 p.m. before closing out the series Sunday at Noon. Both games are subject to change due to weather and will stream on ESPN+.
