Houston hosts Spring Game at Carl Lewis International Complex April 19
HOUSTON – University of Houston Football is set to host its Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at the Carl Lewis International Complex – home to Cougar Soccer and Track and Field – at 10 a.m. that is free to the public. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the team takes the field at 10 o'clock.
SPRING GAME FORMAT
Houston takes the field at approximately 9:45 a.m. for team warm-up and stretch. The anticipated kickoff time for the Spring Game will be 10 a.m.
COOGS CLEANOUT SALE
New this year, the Houston Football team will host a sidewalk sale of former team jerseys, UH branded team apparel, helmets, footwear, and equipment, called the Coogs Cleanout Sale, inside the Athletics Center next to indoor track by the door to the Carl Lewis International Complex. Fans can enter the Coogs Cleanout Sale by entering through the door underneath the bleachers at midfield. Click here for a map of the sale layout.
PARKING and ENTRY
Free parking is available in Lot 16B (between Cullen Blvd. and Entrance 18) and $20 parking is accessible in Lot 15G (in front of the Athletics/Alumni Center). To view a parking map, click here. Fans are encouraged to enter the Carl Lewis International Complex through its north entrance located nearest to the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Entry guidelines will be identical to TDECU Stadium including no outside food or drink. The UH Clear Bag Policy, as outlined in the TDECU Stadium Gameday Guide, will be in effect.
ACTIVATIONS and CONCESSIONS
Fan activations and inflatables will be set up on the grass berm near the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility and Follett, the official UH Team Shop, will also be on site near the entrance to Carl Lewis International Complex for fans to grab the latest in Cougar gear, clothing and gifts.
Fans will be able to purchase various concessions items including coffee from Nook Coffee Shop, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and typical game day fare (hot dogs, brisket sandwiches, water, sodas, beer and popcorn).
This year's Spring Game will not be televised on ESPN+ due to practice format adjustments.
ABOUT the COUGARS
Houston Football returns 77 student-athletes and welcomes 30 mid-year enrollees during its second spring under Head Coach Willie Fritz. The Cougars coaching staff also features a pair of new faces courtesy of the Southeastern Conference in Offensive Coordinator Slade Nagle (LSU) and Defensive Coordinator Austin Armstrong (Florida).
Houston's 30 newcomers include 21 transfer portal additions and nine freshman early enrollees. The group includes 15 defensive players, 14 offensive players and one specialist.
Among Houston's returners, 29 appeared in 10+ games a season ago. Thirteen returners made six-or-more starts including five who started all 12 games in defensive back Latrell McCutchin Sr., defensive back A.J. Haulcy, defensive back Kentrell Webb, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and defensive lineman Carlos Allen Jr. (12).
