Slugger drives in 16 including 8 at Rice with three multi-RBI games
HOUSTON – Houston Baseball sophomore Xavier Perez was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .500 with 16 RBI over five games the past week.
Â
The Corpus Christi, Texas, native is the first Cougar baseball player to earn Big 12 Player of the Week since joining the conference doing so after driving in 16 runs over the five games March 4-9.
Â
The utility man tallied a team-high 10 hits during the week with two home runs, a triple and four doubles. Â
Â
The sophomore drove in eight RBI in Houston's 18-1 drubbing of Rice on Wednesday, collecting four hits with two doubles and a home run. The sophomore extended his hitting streak to seven games during the week with multiple hits in two games and multiple RBI in three games.
