QB1 snags final Player of the Week honor following 300-yard, three touchdown game at Baylor
HOUSTON – Houston Football's junior quarterback Conner Weigman wrapped up Houston's 9-win regular season at Baylor with a performance that earned him Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Weigman orchestrated the Cougars fourth game winning drive in the fourth quarter or later this season when he led Houston on a five-play, 44-yard drive that took just 1:20, setting up running back Dean Connor's one yard rushing touchdown.
The Cypress, Texas native posted his second-career 200-yard passing, 100-yard rushing game, both this season and both on the road, throwing for 201 yards and a touchdown while rushing for a career-high 121 yards and two additional scores.
Weigman helped lead Houston to its sixth road win of the season, becoming the only FBS team in the nation with a 6-0 road record this season. He did so by becoming the third Houston quarterback since 1956 to post 10+ rushing touchdown seasons, and the first since D'Eriq King in 2018.
By leading Houston to the 31-24 win at Baylor, the Cougars have beaten the Bears in Waco in back-to-back games for the first time since beating Baylor in Waco in 1988 and 1990.
Weigman surpassed 5,000 career passing yards in the game and moved into 10th on Houston's single-season scoring list with 32 touchdowns.
UP NEXT
Houston awaits a bowl invitation for the first time since 2022. The invitation is expected on or after Dec. 7. Ticket information, game time and network designation will be released at that time.
