| GAME 12 – BAYLOR |
Houston (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) at Baylor (5-6, 3-5 Big 12)
Saturday, Nov. 29 | 11 a.m.
McLane Stadium | Waco, Texas
Broadcast: TNT
Radio: KPRC 950 AM
| WHAT TO WATCH FOR |
- Houston forced four turnovers against TCU for the second straight meeting, recording three interceptions and a fumble. Sophomore defensive back Will James snagged two interceptions and forced a fumble becoming the first Big 12 player in two years to force a fumble and record two interceptions in the same game. James was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against TCU.
- Houston is the only FBS teams unbeaten on the road this season while also playing five or more road games.
- The Cougars have been elite on defense on the road this season, holding opponents offenses to 15.8 points per game – 3rd nationally on the road. Overall on the season, the Cougars have allowed 20.4 points per game to opponents offenses (removing points scored by opponents defenses and special teams), which ranks 30th nationally.
- Cougars QB Conner Weigman is tied for 11th nationally with 29 touchdowns responsible for. Weigman has thrown for 20 touchdowns and rushed for another nine. Weigman's 29 total TDs is third among Big 12 quarterbacks.
| FIVE THINGS TO KNOW |
- The Cougars matched their win total from their first two seasons in the Big 12 Conference, beginning the season 8-2.
- Houston has won five consecutive road games to begin a season for the fifth time in program history after its 30-27 win at UCF. The Cougars have won 6 road games in the same season twice, 2011 and 2021. A win at Baylor to close out the season would be just the third 6-0 road record in program history.
- Weigman rushed for a career-high 114 rushing yards against TCU, the most by a Cougar QB since Clayton Tune rushed for 120 yards against South Florida in 2020.
- Tanner Koziol and Amare Thomas are both on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Koziol, a preseason add, and Thomas, a Nov. 10 add, make up a duo from Houston that is one of 14 schools with 2+ pass catchers on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Koziol, a tight end, and Thomas, a wide receiver, make Houston one of three schools with a wide receiver and a tight end on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List.
- Houston had three Midseason All-Texas Team selections named by Dave Campbell's Texas Football on Oct. 14 – the third-most in the state. Carlos Allen Jr., Latrell McCutchin Sr., and Ethan Sanchez headlined the First Team while Jordan Allen, Khalil Laufau and Dean Connors were named to the Second Team.
| SCOUTING BAYLOR |
- Baylor enters the week with a 5-6 record, including a 3-5 mark in Big 12 play. The Bears are a win shy of bowl eligibility in the season finale. Baylor is coming off a 41-17 loss to Arizona on Nov. 22, a team Houston defeated 31-28.
- The Waco, Texas, based team has wins over #17/#16 SMU as well as Samford, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and UCF.
- Against common opponents, Houston has a 4-1 record while Baylor holds a 2-3 mark.
| LAST TIME AGAINST BAYLOR |
- Baylor won the last meeting in the series, a 20-10 win at TDECU Stadium on Nov. 23, 2024. The win gave the Bears the lead in the all-time series, 15-14-1.
- Zeon Chriss-Gremillion threw for 126 yards while Jeremiah Wilson snagged a 41-yard interception return touchdown for Houston's touchdown.
- Wilson grabbed two interceptions while A.J. Haulcy caught a third. Michael Batton led the defense with 12 tackles in the game.
| A HOUSTON WIN WOULD ... |
- Be Houston's first 9+ win regular season since 2021 (11 wins).
- Be Houston's second consecutive win at Baylor for the first time since winning back-to-back games in Waco in 1988 and 1990.
