
Houston’s 2026 Big 12 Conference Slate Announced

Cougars will play eight conference series, including four at Cougar Softball Stadium
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team will begin its 2026 Big 12 Conference slate by hosting the reigning tournament and regular season champions Texas Tech as the first of eight series this season, the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday.
The Cougars' conference slate includes eight-consecutive weekends of 3-game series followed by a bye week on the last weekend of the regular season. Houston plays host to 12 games at Cougar Softball Stadium, with three of those series set to be played through the first four weekends of the season. Additionally, the Cougars will face four of five Big 12 programs who earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, with two hosting regionals highlighted by the Red Raiders making a Women's College World Series Finals appearance.
Houston starts its league slate with back-to-back home weekends, hosting Texas Tech starting March 6 and Kansas beginning on March 13.
The Cougars then hit the road for the first time in conference play to take on Iowa State starting March 20 before returning back home to host its third home weekend against UCF on March 27, marking a 19th-consecutive season facing the Knights.
The back-half of the Big 12 slate sees Houston go back on the road for two weekends, kicking off an in-state series against Baylor on April 2 before heading out West to take on BYU starting April 9.
A home weekend finale brings Arizona State to H-Town beginning April 17 before the Cougars cap off the regular season in the desert when they face Arizona starting April 24.
Following a bye on the final weekend of the conference schedule, the Big 12 Conference Softball Championship will run from May 6-9 at OGE Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. The competition will introduce a format change with the top-8 programs during the regular season earning qualification to the tournament.
All series run Friday through Sunday, with the exception of Baylor and BYU which runs Thursday through Saturday.
