PREVIEW: Houston Hosts UCF to Open Homestand

HOUSTON – After two weeks on the road, the University of Houston Soccer team returns home to open a three-game homestand as it welcomes UCF at 1 p.m., Sunday for its Alumni Reunion at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen (play-by-play) and Vicente Garcia (analyst) calling the action. Live stats for Sunday's match are available here.

LAST TIME OUT
Houston snapped its five-match winless streak and collected its first road win of the season defeating Iowa State, 2-1, on Thursday in Ames.

The Cyclones got on the board in the fourth minute before the Cougars stormed back with a pair of goals from freshmen Amaris Bumba and Madyson Bentil.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

Head Coach Ben Williams is in his first season leading the Cougars. Williams is in his second season as a head coach in the college ranks.
Graduate Jaden Humbyrd, junior Kyrsten Kizer and sophomore Casey Maddox were named captains for the 2025 season as voted on by their teammates.
The Cougars feature a revamped roster with 15 newcomers including 11 transfers and four freshmen.
Houston has 32 goals on the season with 15 different goal scorers.
Samira Minor leads the Cougars with five goals on the season.
The Cougars lead the conference in shots on goal with 122.
Graduate Alex Whitcraft's next start will be her 66th and move her into sole possession of fifth place in career starts in program history.

UCF is 9-2-3 on the season with a 3-1-3 record in Big 12 Conference play.
Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak is in her 13th season leading the Knights. She owns a career record of 183-113-54, with a 130-63-35 tally in Orlando.
Liz Worden and Rajanah Reed pace the Knights with five goals on the season.
Goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson has registered six shutouts on the season.
In its last match, UCF defeated Oklahoma State, 2-1, in Stillwater.

HISTORY WITH UCF

Sunday's match is the 22nd meeting in the series between UCF and Houston
UCF has taken the last three matchups in the series with the last meeting being a 5-0 victory for the Knights in Orlando (Sept. 12, 2024).
Houston's last win in the series came in a 1-0 victory in Houston in 2021 (Sept. 16).
