ABOUT ROBERT PLATT
The University of Houston community lost a beloved friend and teammate on June 26, 2019, when Robert Platt Jr. passed away. Platt Jr. was a pole vaulter for the Houston Track & Field program, competing in 24 meets for the Cougars.
Before Houston, Platt Jr. attended George Ranch High School and earned a third-place finish at the 6A State Championships during his senior season. Outside of athletics, Robert Platt Jr. was an active member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Houston.
His mother, Kaddie Platt, led the Houston Volleyball program from 2012 to 2019.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars wrapped up their first road meet of the season at the Ted Nelson Invitational on a high note posting nine-podium finishes. Graduate thrower KeAyla Dove and senior hurdler Jamar Marshall Jr. posted meet and facility records in the women's shot put and men's 60-meter hurdles, respectively.
Dove broke the school record in the women's shot put event with her mark of 17.76m.
In the women's pole vault, freshman Evina Panagiotou finished second with a career-best mark of 4.03m (13-2.50) standing fourth in program history. At third place, freshman Kaylee Daniel cleared a personal best of 3.93m (12-10.75) posting the sixth-best mark in program history.
The men's 4x400-meter relay continued to shine as senior Trey East III, freshman King Taylor, freshman Prentice Sanders II and freshman Sahfi Reed placed second with a time of 3:07.22. This time marked the fourth-best indoor performance in program history.
