Cougars Open Camp, Announce “Fan Fest” Event

Houston Football takes part in first of 25 preseason practices on Wednesday
HOUSTON – The next phase in the Head Coach Willie Fritz era gets underway Wednesday.
University of Houston Football opens preseason camp Wednesday morning, taking part in the first of 25 practices leading into the program's Aug. 31 season opener against UNLV. Practices are closed to the public.
Houston will host its second annual "Fan Fest" inside the Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14. The free event will feature an autograph session as well as inflatables, a Heisman Trophy photo opportunity, appearances by Spirit of Houston and much more.
Attendees are welcome to bring up to two (2) items to be signed. Houston Athletics will also have commemorative posters while supplies last. Complimentary parking is available in the Stadium Parking Garage (3874 Holman Street) by using the visitor's entrance. Fans should enter the IPF through the Holman Street entrance.
Among Houston's 115-member roster, 58 student-athletes are entering their first season with the Scarlet & White. The Cougars' 58 newcomers and 32 transfers are each the most in the Power 4. The group consists of 28 defensive players, 25 on offense and five specialists. It is made up of 25 freshmen, four redshirt freshmen, eight sophomores, eight juniors and 13 seniors. In total, 30 of the 58 players (51.7%) call the state of Texas home.
