Cougars set to compete in California and Houston this weekend
HOUSTON and WALNUT, Calif.– The University of Houston Track and Field program will send student-athletes to California for the 64th Mt. SAC Relays, Thursday through Saturday, while a portion of the team will compete at Rice's J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Houston Track and Field competed in three meets at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Leopard Distance Carnival and Tom Jones Memorial Invitational last weekend. At the Bryan Clay Invitational, graduate distance runner Claire Meyer ran a Top-Three school time in the 10,000-meter run with 34:00.11, a personal best.

Seniors Ayomide Ogunbunmi and Charlie O'Block competed in their first decathlon, each setting four personal bests across all events. Ogunbunmi finished on the podium with 6,785 points for third, while O'Block finished with 5,791 points.

At the Leopard Distance Carnival, senior Branch Cox ran a personal-best time of 14:48.89 in the 5,000-meter run to finish 32nd among 113 finishers.

In Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, graduate Kelly-Ann Beckford ran to a school record-breaking time in the 800-meter with her finish of 2:00.70. Beckford's personal best time earned her second among collegiate competitors and the No. 3 time in the nation.

Senior sprinter Shaun Maswanganyi won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.12 on the men's side.

The women's 4x400-meter relay of graduate Sydni Townsend, Beckford, senior Iman Babineaux and freshman Michaela Mouton finished second among collegiate competitors at 3:28.36.
