PREVIEW: Houston Wraps the Regular Season at #54 Kansas and Iowa State

Cougars face Jayhawks at 5 p.m., Friday, and Cyclones at 10 a.m., Sunday
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program travels to face No. 54 Kansas and Iowa State for the final road trip of the regular season beginning Friday.
The Cougars (2-16, 0-11 Big 12) meet the Jayhawks (8-12, 5-6 Big 12) at 5 p.m., Friday at the Jayhawks Tennis Center, in Lawrence, Kan., before capping the regular season against Iowa State (3-15, 1-10 Big 12) at 10 a.m., Sunday, from the Ames High Tennis Complex, in Ames, Iowa.
The Cougars are led in singles by seniors Blanca Cortijo Parreno and Laura Slisane, and sophomore Sophie Schouten with four wins each. Schouten and sophomore Sonya Kovalenko pace Houston with seven doubles victories on court one.
Kyoka Kubo leads the Jayhawks with 13 wins on the season, including an 8-0 record on court four. Jasmine Adams and Maria Titova pace Kansas with five wins on court three.
In singles on court one, Anna Kuearum leads Iowa State with nine wins, while she and doubles partner Isabella Dunlap, have won four matches on court one.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars fell to No. 1 Oklahoma State, 4-0, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Friday.
On Sunday against No. 74 Kansas State, Cortijo Parreno and junior Elena Trencheva defeated Jillian Harkin and Manami Ukita, 6-4, and Slisane and junior Maria Dzemeshkevich took down Maria Santos and Maralgoo Chomsomjav, 6-4, to claim Houston's third doubles point in Big 12 Conference play.
After dropping the doubles point, the Wildcats answered with points on courts four, one, six and five to take the match, 4-1.
SERIES VS KANSAS
After falling in the first two meetings, the Jayhawks have taken the last six matchups. The most recent occurrence was a 4-2 loss for the Cougars in Houston (March 13, 2016).
SERIES VS IOWA STATE
Houston and Iowa State have met just one time. In the lone meeting, the Cougars claimed a 4-3 win in Houston (March 12, 2012).
