Cougars begin action on Thursday at Bryan Clay Invitational
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track and Field program will compete in two different time zones, three hours apart, as it travels to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Leopard Distance Carnival in La Verne, Calif., and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., beginning Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars won 10 events and picked up a total of 16 second and third-place finishes at the second-annual Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Saturday.

Graduate Halena Rahmaan kicked things off for the Cougars on the track as she set a meet record in the 1500-meter with 4:33.95 to place first.

Senior hurdler De'Vion Wilson made his outdoor season debut as he won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.62, for the 20th fastest time in the nation.

Freshman Michaela Mouton won her third 400-meter race of the season as she sprinted to the finish line at 52.76, for the 19th-fastest time in the nation.

The Cougars swept the top spot in both the men's and women's 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore Paris Baker won the women's event at 1:04.19, and junior Nakoah Witt recorded a 53.30 on the men's side.

The men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams concluded the running evening for the Cougars with two first-place finishes as the women's team of Miracle Thompson, Linesha Thompson, Tia Outlaw and Ali Mack ran a 3:56.64, while the men's team of Nicholas Byrd, Joshua Sims-Waddy, Dillon Leacock and Witt recorded a time of 3:19.96.

Senior Caleb Malbrough leaped a 7.56m in the men's long jump to win the event for the 15th-best distance in the nation. Senior David Ajama protected home turf in the triple jump as he leaped a 15.47m to win the event.

Senior Christyan Sampy picked up the final win for the Cougars with 5.31m as he set a meet record in the men's pole vault.
