PREVIEW: Men’s Golf Competes at Two Tournaments This Week

Team tees off at Cabo Collegiate on Sunday morning; Four individuals to compete at HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational
LOS CABOS, Mexico & SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in a pair of tournaments this week, beginning Monday morning.
As a team, Houston will tee off at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Golf Club. The Cougars will play 18 holes with a 9:30 a.m. (CST) shotgun start Sunday through Tuesday.
The Cougars also will send four student-athletes to compete as individuals at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. That tournament begins with 36 holes Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday.
Houston enters this week's events after tying for fifth at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 19-20.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior Santiago De La Fuente, fifth-year Austyn Reily, freshman Chi Chun Chen, junior Wolfgang Glawe and freshman Grant Doggett.
This season, De La Fuente leads the Cougars with a 69.33 scoring average and eight rounds of par or better. The Guadalajara, Mexico, sat out the recent Border Olympics while making his second PGA Tour career start at the Mexico Open at Vidanta, where he tied for 46th at 6-under 278.
Reily fired a 65 in the Final Round of Border Olympics to tie for fifth at 8-under 208 while Chen joined Reily among the Top-20 leaders. Reily is second among the Cougars with a 71.00 scoring average in 2023-24 with Glawe in third on the team at 73.08.
Junior Drew Murdock, junior Jacob Borow, junior Laurenz Schiergen and graduate senior Nick Sutton will compete as individuals at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 15-team field featuring Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Stanford, California, Baylor, Columbia, Mississippi, Arizona, Rice and Arizona State
Houston will face student-athletes from UIW, UNO, Tarleton, Weber State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Missouri State, Southeastern Louisiana, North Dakota, Nicholls, Stephen F. Austin, Omaha, NMJC, Texas Southern and host HCU at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
TEE TIMES
For Sunday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Stanford, Vanderbilt and Arizona State.
De La Fuente begins the day at 9:30 a.m. (CST) off No. 5 with Reily (No. 6), Chen (No. 7), Glawe (No. 8) and Doggett (No. 9) following.

Following the Cabo Collegiate and the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational, Houston returns home to play host to the All-American Intercollegiate on March 18-19 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
From there, Houston will continue their hosting duties as they welcome an elite field to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla., on March 25-26.
