
Women’s Golf Earns Third Led by Kim, Svedenskiold

Cougars capture third Top-3 finisher of season with Sunday’s even-par Final Round
TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Houston Women's Golf shot even-par in its Final Round from the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club on Sunday, finishing third among the 15-team field at 4-under, 860, for the program's third Top-3 finisher this season.
The Cougars were led by freshman Maelynn Kim and sophomore Moa Svedenskiold who finished in a four-way tie for 11th place at 3-under, 213. The finisher marked the fourth Top 15 finish this season for Svedenskiold, who was 2-under through 13 holes, and third for Kim, who shot 4-under over her first 11 holes.
South Florida captured the team title, shooting 11-under on the final day to top second-place Texas A&M (852) by four strokes at 16-under, 848. South Florida senior Melanie Green earned the individual title after using a 6-under, 66 Final Round to finish at 11-under, 205.
Junior Hyeonji Kang moved five spots up the leaderboard to finish in a four-way tie for 23rd at 1-over, 217, thanks to a Final Round even-par 72. Sophomore teammate Alexa Saldana finished one stroke back in a tie for 27th at 2-over, 218. Houston senior Nicole Abelar (224) took 52nd and junior Brooke Morales (228), competing individually, moved up eight spots to finish 65th.

Houston returns to the Lone Star state to compete in their final regular-season event at the Big 12 Match-Play Tournament at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., on April 8-10, 2024.
From there, the Cougars take their first steps in the postseason when they tee off at the Big 12 Championships, set for April 18-20 at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas. The winner of the league's annual postseason event receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals to be held at one of six sites across the country on May 6-8.
