Cougar Tracks: Baylor Comes Calling

Statistics, tidbits, trivia and more as Houston hosts Baylor for first time on campus
HOUSTON – There is no shortage of history between the University of Houston and Baylor; yet, on Saturday, the two in-state programs separated by less than 200 miles will make some.
After 10 meetings inside the Astrodome and three at Rice Stadium as part of 29 total bouts dating to 1950, the two programs will meet for the first time on the campus of the University of Houston. Saturday's kickoff is slated for 6:05 p.m. inside TDECU Stadium and will feature a pregame senior send-off and tribute to the City of Houston with the program's inaugural Houston Blue game.

GAMEDAY – ON THIS DATE (Nov. 23, 1968)
On Nov. 23, 1968, Houston scored seven fourth-quarter touchdowns on Tulsa and became the last FBS team to put up 100 points in a game as part of a 100-6 thrashing. Fullback Paul Gipson scored three touchdowns and reserve quarterback Rusty Clark passed for three and ran for another as No. 11 Houston defeated Tulsa, 100-6. In all, 12 different players scored as Houston broke its school scoring record of 77 points. The Cougars gained 762 yards of total offense, breaking it open with 27 points in the third quarter and 49 points in the final period.

Houston Football will debut its Houston Blue jerseys. The helmets feature the "Houston" script with a red stripe down the center. The jerseys are Houston Blue with white numerals and feature a white star – emblematic of the Houston flag – on the back. The Cougars will wear white pants.
